Dear Friends –
Our sympathy to Barbara Harris and family upon the death of her father,
Raymond Ford, on August 9. Mr. Ford will be at Anderson Funeral Home in
Fern Creek. Visitation is Thursday, August 11, from 11:00 - 2:00 and 5:00 -
8:00 and after noon on Friday. The funeral will be on Friday, August 12, at
1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Deb Sexton will have hand surgery tomorrow, August 11, at 10:00 a.m. at the
Jewish Hand Care Center, downtown. This will be the 4th surgery on this
hand. Deb has had much pain in this hand and mobility is also a problem.
Hopefully, this surgery will solve both those problems.
Melanie Magruder had a cochlear implant this morning at Jewish Hospital
(downtown). This is an outpatient procedure. There will be a period of 5 -
6 weeks for this incision to heal. During this time she will not be able to
hear at all. Upon healing, she will receive the external equipment
(referred to as "hookup") and at that time she will be able to hear. She
will go back and forth for "fine tuning" and audio rehabilitation, etc. for
about six months. Her hearing will not be perfect, but will be much
improved. She asks for prayers for patience during this lengthy time of
healing and rehab. Bob has just called and he has Melanie at home now. She
has a headache and has some nausea, but Bob said the surgery went well.
Please remember Jim and Mildred Jones in your prayers. Jim Jones is now in
the King's Daughter and Son Nursing Home off Newburg Road. His wife Mildred
is with her sister in Mississippi for a few weeks.
Bill Banks fell while riding the TARC bus yesterday and hit his head. He
did have a small brain bleed. He spend the night at Suburban Hospital and
after undergoing a few tests, was released today. He is doing fine.
Bill Lenz remains in Baptist East Hospital after having surgery last week to
remove fluid from around his brain. He developed an infection earlier in
the week, but that has been taken care of and he is doing much better.
Pat Anderson is also at Baptist East Hospital after having heart valve
surgery last week. She is also progressing well. Pat will probably be home
very soon.
Minnie Stivers fell and broke a small bone in her hip. Surgery was not
required but she will have a long, painful recovery. She is at Hurstbourn
Care Center, Room 28, for rehab. (Just received a call from deacon, Martha
Stepro, saying she had just visited Minnie and she was in good spirits and
is making progress.)
