Friends,

Remember....Habitat House - Raise the Roof is this Friday and Saturday, June
24 & 25.  Volunteers are still needed.  Directions to the house are as
follows:

The address is 2238 Madison.  There are two ways to go:

1.  64 East to 22nd street.  Go south on 22nd street and take right on
Madison (after Muhammad Ali).  House will be on your left about half way
down.

2.  From Broadway: take right on Dr. WJ Hodge St. (21st street).  Take left
on Madison (3 blocks).  Go straight at stop sign, you'll cross over 22nd
street, and the house will be on your left about half way down.

Raise the roof- June 24 and 25, 8:15-5:00.  Will meet at the Habitat House.

WOMEN's Habitat House - anyone 16 or over may work on the building of this
house.  You only have to be 18 to use power tools.  The crew works on
Thursdays and Saturdays, usually from 8:30 to about 4:00 p.m.  If anyone is

Pastoral Updates:

Makenna Jo Leach, infant daughter of Matt and Shelly Leach, remains in
Kosair and is doing very well.

John Smith will have colon surgery on June 30, at Baptist East Hospital.

Congratulations to Suzanne Saint upon the birth of a baby boy, Joshua Wayne
Scott Howell, on June 20, at Baptist East.  The proud grandmother is Susan
Saint and the proud grandparents are Cate and Grayson Tucker.

There will be a community meeting in the Fireside Room at 6:30 on Wednesday,
June 22, regarding a zone change from R-4 to C-1 to allow for a retail
commercial center at 9317 Beulah Church Road (directly across the street
from the church).  The developer, The McCartin Company; Robin Engle, Metro
Louisville Councilman, District 22; adjoining property owners; and
neighborhood group representatives  will be present. This will be an
informal meeting to give you the opportunity to review the proposed plan and
discuss the proposal with the developer and its representatives.
