Dear Ones – God is good – all the time. All the time – God is good.

God’s blessing to you and yours on this Friday afternoon.

Our prayer list today is lighter – which is great for many.

A few joys:

Barbara Greene is recovering well at home from knee surgery.
Another member (not to be named here) had successful outpatient surgery on Wednesday, and was up and about on Thursday.
Andrew and I had a wonderful time participating in the wedding of my Aunt Deb Pfau - to her intended John Reformato. This is her first marriage at age 53. We flew to New Jersey, stayed in a hotel and were involved in the wedding in Port Chester, New York, and ate and danced (well, I danced, but not Andrew) at the reception in Greenwich, Connecticut (some money in that community let me tell you!).
Jeannie Koerber continues to feel better, and we should finally be hearing about her temporary disability in the very near future.
Melinda and Bill Smith have their new adopted baby in their lives, Alyssa Smith – they were in worship last Sunday. Bill and Alyssa survived the trip from Guatemala City and back – and the family is settling in together. Look forward to an upcoming baptism soon.
Rose Lukat had successful surgery on her arm, to place an IV port in her arm for future use if needed for her medical condition. (Rose is Linda Denny’s Mom, grandma to Rebecca and Christopher).
Bob Metzger continues to improve from surgery.
Bob Tackett and Bob Azinger continue their regiment of chemotherapy (oral for Bob T) and radiation (Bob A) and both men are feeling some side effects but are also able to be up and about, even golf for Bob T.
This Sunday we begin another New Members Class and we hope that many of our recent guests and visitors will attend and consider joining our family of faith here at Beulah, as we “progress in mission and ministry.”
The Pumpkins are selling – and we still need to fill in a few slots for working the pumpkin patch – so please see Terry Hargrave.
The College Connection still has several names of college kids from our church who need a “connection” with us while they are at school. There is a poster that Terry Hargrave will be holding in the Lobby with their names. Please consider adopting one of these kids – send them a card, a care package, pray for them – and help keep them connected to their Beulah Church family.
Some concerns:

1. Cliff Stout remains at Hurstbourne Rehab Center on Stonybrook – he seems still tired and depressed to me, but is coming along with physical therapy. Please keep praying for a positive attitude and strength for Cliff.

2. Lolita Adams has asked us to pray for the Syndor family here in Fern Creek, as they grieve the death of their 22 year old daughter Angela. She died in an automobile accident a week ago today (Friday, 10/15) on Billtown Road. Lolita worked with Angela’s father at the Louisville Fire Department headquarters, and the Adams and Sydnor families are neighbors.

3. Deb Sexton is scheduled for some more (now the 4th) hand surgery – please remember Deb and Steve.

4. Terry Hargrave’s mother, Phyllis Howard¸ is struggling again with her heart, and was hospitalized.

Many others are listed in the bulletin, friends and relatives facing various struggles and needs, some with family members serving in Iraq, others struggling with cancer, older age, upcoming surgery and other needs. Let us lift them up in our prayers for God’s healing, and an awareness for each of them of the very presence of the Holy Spirit in their hearts and lives and situations – present with them to bless and sustain and comfort them no matter what their future holds. As I have said many times from the pulpit, we do not know what the future holds, but we do know who holds the future.

Peace to you this afternoon;

Sunday’s sermon is on Luke 18:9-14, the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector.

Hope to see many of you then.

Pastor Ken
