Dear Ones,

God is good – all the time.

All the time – God is good!

As Mr. Rogers would surely say, it’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” Of course we do need some rain, but my, what gorgeous weather we are having these days.

A brief word on our prayer list, and mission and ministry opportunities in your church:

Cliff Stout is still in the hospital recovering from a stroke. When I see him he is alert, but very tired. Keep praying!

Don Pierce had some surgery a week ago today, and is home recovering.

Rose Lukat (mom to Linda Denny) will be going in for some surgery next week.

Barbara Greene is scheduled for some knee surgery in the near future.

Bob Metzger is recovering at home from surgery.

Lulie Flowers is recovering from pneumonia, but she also got a secondary infection and has been struggling with swallowing.

Deb Sexton is doing OK, and is considering a 4th hand surgery – (that poor hurt hand).

In other news:

Saturday is the Men’s Breakfast – come one and all men at 8:30 ! There will be enough food for you.

Saturday night is the James O Leach Hunger Awareness Dinner at Summit Heights United Methodist Church, at 7:00.

Sunday afternoon is the Hunger Walk (1:00) and a Cookout for our College and Career group (4:30 at Beulah)

We need some more folks to help with the College Connection – to keep in touch with our college students as they are away at school. Please contact Linda DeSanto is you can help – fdesanto@netscape.com

Jack Laing reports that our financial situation has gotten much better since the summer; he was able to catch up our mission giving for two months (with two more to go to be even). Special thanks to all of those who caught up their pledge and those who gave some extra to see us through the summer!

I hear in the wind there is a Worship and Ministry Staff appreciation cookie and punch reception in the Fireside and Memorial Rooms following the 10:40 worship service, this Sunday. The organizing group is recognizing Terry and Doug for their 5 and 6 years of service here at Beulah, and yours truly for the last 10. We are truly blest to have two very gifted staff members in Terry and Doug. Both have their Master’s degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in their fields of service (Terry a Masters in Christian Education and Doug a Masters in Sacred Music); both are long committed over their years to Beulah and our mission and ministry, and both are dedicated, talented, hard working – and fun people to work with in ministry here. We have seen tremendous strides in our youth, education and music programs here at Beulah - thanks in no small part to the efforts of these two fine people. So please share with them your word of appreciation for their faithful ministry among us.

I would also encourage your prayers for two families in our church who are going through a difficult time in these days. Often times as pastor I am aware of some individual and family situations that I am not at liberty to share with everyone, given the dynamics of the situation, but these are situations in which I am involved on behalf of our whole church family. Your support to me is also a support to them – and the caring ways we all seek to be with each other in this family of faith also is a great help to these families. So many of you are being helpful to these folks without even know it.

That’s the word for this Thursday afternoon. Hope to worship with as many of you as possible here this Sunday, 8:30 and 10:40 – Sunday School at 9:30. The sermon will be based on Luke 17:11-19 (and even verses 20 and 21).

Peace to you and yours this day –

And remember:

God is good – all the time.

All the time – God is good!

Pastor Ken H.
