Congratulations to Katie Basket – a seventh grader at Noe Middle School – and Carol Burke’s daughter, Tim Burke’s stepdaughter, Stuart’s sister, Phyllis Bunnell’s granddaughter and Cindy’s Bunnell’s niece – on a tremendous achievement. Katie is one of 16 seventh graders recognized as a Grand National Winner of Duke University’s Talent Identification Program! This means she has scored, as a 7th grader, over 650 points out of 800 on both the math and verbal portions of the SAT, and at least 28 in math or English, 30 in reading, or 27 in science on the ACT. This puts her scores higher than 90% of college bound high school seniors. Katie said she hopes to attend Duke University in the future, and study law. Congratulations to Katie on this wonderful achievement.

Also honored last night for their academic achievement were Blake Ryan, Andrew Hockenberry, Jack Watson and Tessa Watson. These four 6th graders from Noe Middle School, among 500 or so Noe students, scored high honors in their academic studies at the 6th grade level. Our congratulations to Blake, Andrew, Jack and Tessa!

Next Sunday, May 23rd, we are recognizing in worship our high school, college, graduate school and technical school graduates.

I hope you will be among the worshippers on Sunday to recognize these graduates, as well as Katie, Blake, Andrew, Jack and Tessa on their achievements.

One more bit of news for your prayers – please remember Deb Sexton as she undergoes another round of surgery on her injured hand on May 27th. This has been a struggle for Deb over the past weeks, and the nerve in her hand is not healing as it should. This second procedure is to replace that nerve with a nerve from her leg or arm. Please keep Deb in your prayers.

That’s all for Friday at 12:40 – lunch time!

Blessings –

Ken H
