Dear Beulah Church Family –

This morning we give thanks to God for the life and service of Mrs. Edith “Mickey” Evans. Mickey died early this morning (Wednesday) quietly at Westminster Terrace – her home for the past several years.

I remember visiting Mickey years ago in her home on Douglass Blvd. She was then – and always remained – gracious and dignified. Mickey had a parrot – her granddaughter has it now – that would repeat words that it heard –quite hysterical. When I would visit she kept the cover over the cage to cut down on this chatter!

For the last several times Judy or I would visit with her, she would tell us that she “loved her Beulah Church” – and that she was ready to go and be with Jesus. Surely Jesus was and is always with her, and her life is now kept safe with her Lord and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Calling hours will be at Fern Creek Funeral Home on Thursday, from 4:00 to 8:00. The Funeral Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be on Friday morning at 10:00 at Fern Creek Funeral Home. Rev. Gary Pennington, a former seminary student, former Parish Associate, and long time friend of this church, who has known Mickey and her family for many years (much longer than I) will be leading that service, doing so with my full support and request, as well as the request of the family. As I was planning to attend the General Assembly Leadership Briefing from Thursday noon to Saturday noon, this has all worked out well in terms of this funeral service.

Many of you did not know Mickey, as she was not able to be active here at Beulah in the recent past. But she was a very active presence here, and in that spirit I hope many of you can pay a call on the family, tell them you are from Beulah Church, and that you are sorry for their loss. Mickey was blessed to live 94 – nearly 95 years.

Please add to your prayer list Robert Denny. Bob is married to Nancy, and they spend some time each year in Florida. Bob had surgery to install a pacemaker. He is at Baptist East, and I’ll be checking on him later today.

Jimmy Fox is going in the VA for some respite care – the respite care being for his wife Mary, who is his primary care giver. Jimmy would love some visitors from Beulah. His room number is A485, Bed 22. Stop by if you can and pay him a visit.

Sermon title for this Sunday is “Left Behind?”

Read ahead if you want - Revelation 21 and 22.

Have a blessed Wednesday!

Peace,

Ken H
