Dear Beulah Church family -

It’s an on again, off again, rainy day here at Beulah Church, with 70 preschool children and their sisters, brothers, moms and dads, and the Preschool staff trying to lead our Preschool Field Days. The rain did hold for about two hours, so the kids got to sit in the fire truck from Fern Creek Fire Dept.(and honk the loud horn!), check out a huge wrecker / tow truck, make bubbles with a huge but shallow pool of soap bubble water, ride the ponies (real ponies!) around a bit, check out two drag racing cars (when they started up the ponies – and the staff – shrieked!) and check out an 2 different UPS trucks – the square one as well as an 18 wheeler. Around 11:00 the party had to be moved inside – but all went well.

Some family news for your rainy day Thursday:

1. Congratulations to the Fern Creek ROTC Drill Team for winning a recent competition this year, and for the last 4 years. Michael Adams, son of Diane Adams, is on the team. So congratulations to Fern Creek Traditional High School, the ROTC Drill Team, and to Michael.

Congratulations to Robin and Todd Corbett. These are friends of Susan Ryan’s, and Susan asked that we pray for them as they were traveling to the Ukraine to adopt two children. They arrived safely, and are very close to adopting two twin boys. Keep praying that the paperwork and other processes go smoothly and the Corbett’s can form their new family and arrive home safe and sound.

This Saturday is a wedding for Anita Seidenfaden and Brian Hess. Brian grew up here at Beulah, and Anita is a faithful Roman Catholic. Blessing on this new couple. I am officiating along with Anita’s pastor, Fr. Terry Bradshaw.

Please keep Edith “Mickey” Evans in your prayers as she is coming closer to the end of her earthly journey. Mickey lives now at Westminster Terrace, in the health center, and is not taking any more food, and only some water. Her family is staying with her around the clock; I have been to visit and pray with her on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mickey will turn 95 this summer, and has lived a full life. Still, any loss is hard. She is not in pain, and is still conscious from time to time – she actually looked better to me on Wednesday. She is ever gracious – thanking me for coming, and for my prayers. Please keep her, and her family, in yours.

Cliff Stout has some struggle with a fairly major toe infection, requiring a nurse to come and dress it. Please pray for Cliff.

Frank Korfhage continues at home with stitches as a result of a fall. And pray for Frank.

Prayers are asked for Riley Russell Ward. Riley is the father of Tina Ward, neighbor to Nancy Leach and Joy Brands. (Tina also was awarded the contract for our lawn service here at Beulah – she began May 1). Tina’s dad Riley had major heart surgery and came through it very well. Please keep him in your prayers.

Judy received word from Kathy Zehnder (Kathy is Cal and Eleanor’s Zehnder daughter; Cal and Eleanor are former members of Beulah who moved their membership to Fern Creek United Methodist so that that family would worship together; Judy works with Kathy on a PTA board). While in Florida Eleanor fell and broke her ankle, so they are staying in Florida for several more weeks until the ankle heals.

Remember this Sunday is Confirmation of the Faith for four of our young people (at the 10:40 service) – and also celebration of The Lord’s Supper at both services. They are:

Thomas “Tommy” Ogle - son of Janet and Sam Ogle (brother Doug & sister Emily)

Kristen Schuenemeyer - daughter of Sherri Schuenemeyer and Doug Schuenemeyer (brother Scott)

Katherine “Katie” Spalding - daughter of Melissa and Ron Spalding (brother John)

Alexandra “Ally” Taylor - daughter of Katherine Taylor and Dean Taylor (sister Samantha “Sam”)

These young people are meeting with the Session tonight to be received. Next year, if the class remains the same, we should have eleven young people to be confirmed!

That’s the news that we know about this day – and now the rain has stopped.

Blessings on you and yours – and we’ll see you in worship this Sunday!

In Christ,

Ken H.
