Dear Beulah Saints -

Here is the first of many yet to come "New From the Pews" written by the lesser able person in these matters, Pastor Ken H. This email prayer update was Pastor Judy's baby - she birthed it and kept it going. So this will be my first attempt to continue vital "ministry of communication and caring" of our church.

First to a portion of God's good creation - mama duck Millie Mallard and her ducklings. Millie is a regular here at Beulah: she lands in our courtyard each spring to hatch her brood of ducklings. They were born a week ago Saturday - all 13 of them. Later that Sunday evening (April 25) Christie Tompkins reports that Millie and babies were near the lobby glass doors, quacking away. This was also the case when I came to work on Monday, April 26th. Millie was saying something like, "I'm ready to take the family out now, if you please." She seems to know the routine. We opened the lobby glass doors, gently encouraged Mille and babies to walk through the Lobby. She immediately turned left outside of the main doors, heading toward the creek. And of course the babies followed. Jerry (custodian here) and I saw them safely through the parking lot and down into the creek. At last observation, all were well! Yeh for Millie and family. If you want to see puictures Millie and her brood from last year, check out the pictures link on our website - www.beulahpresbyterian.com

On to others of God's good creation:
Elsie Deutsch had cataract surgery yesterday (Monday), and was home within a few hours. Today she is doing very well, and is thankful that the colors she sees are so much more bright and brilliant.

Cliff Stout had a brief stay at the hospital, but was released after a short time. There is an ongoing concern about his heart, and medication was changed when Cliff was at the hospital around Easter Day. Please keep him in your prayers - for strength and healing.

Susan Ryan has asked that we pray for Robin and Todd Corbett, friends of hers, as they travel to the Ukraine to adopt two children. Pray for safe travel, that all goes smoothly with the adoption process, and they return safely here. May God bless them as they form a new family together.

Please lift up a prayer for Lorna Pierce and her family as they grief the death of her Uncle John. The Rev. John Ellis, Jr. served his country as a Chaplain in the Air Force, and he will be missed by many. The service will take place on Saturday, May 8, at St. John's in the Desert Presbyterian Church.

Bren Bishop, a former seminary student here at Beulah and now an Army Chaplain, has asked that we pray for the chaplains who are serving now in Iraq, and he gave us the names of those currently working with him: CH (Lt) Gladys Lenier (PCUSA), CH (Cpt) Emil Denemark (Roman Catholic), CH (Cpt) William Bassett (Assembly of God), CH (Cpt) Maxwell (Church of Christ)
At this time in the week we have no others of our church family members in the hospital. Our larger church family list is long, so please keep these in your prayers. Here is a copy of that list from last Sunday's bulletin:
