Dear Friends,

Not too much news this week, so I’ve been quiet. Easter was awesome with a full sanctuary and incredible music plus the opportunity to celebrate 4 baptisms and the Lord’s Supper! That is a five star day in the life of a preacher – and we hope in your lives as well.

Cliff Stout was taken to Baptist East Hospital early on Sunday morning with some shortness of breath and chest pain. He was concerned that he may be having a heart attack. As things developed he was not having a heart attack, but he was oxygen deprived and that was causing chest pains. He got home from the hospital on Thursday and is improving. Although even four days in the hospital can really take the wind out of your sails.

Virginia Gregory had an outpatient surgery on April 5th. Everything went very smoothly and she was home that day. By Tuesday, the 13th, she was out and about, enjoying her circle.

Lorna Pierce had a stress test and it turns out that she has a heart and it’s fairly healthy! She’s having some trouble with high blood pressure, but they have put her on a new medication and she thinks she is noticing some improvement.

Laura Pierce is continuing to undergo medical tests to get to the bottom of her stomach problems. Please keep Laura in your prayers.

Joe and Pam Scott have had their share of doctor’s visits this week. Joe ended up with an unexpected heart cath procedure on Tuesday morning – this was after he “failed” a stress test. However, he passed the heart cath with flying colors and seems to be perfectly healthy and whole! Praise the Lord. Pam is struggling with a cut on her leg that is not healing as well as one would hope. She has seen the vascular surgeon and she is now wearing a device called a “compression boot”. The doctor said she should expect recovery in about 3 weeks. Please keep Pam in your prayers.

Mary and Warren McCaulley have celebrated 60 years of marriage as of April 10th, I believe. Prayers of thanksgiving are in order for that occasion.

BJ and Lucille Williams celebrated 70 years of marriage earlier in the year! What tremendous role models these couples are for all of us at under 40 years of marriage!

Sunday, April 18th will be my last “preaching Sunday”. I will be serving as liturgist and participating in a baptism on Sunday, April 25th, but I didn’t want to say my good-byes and give a “farewell” sermon on the same day. So this Sunday will be my last Sunday of preaching – at least for a while. Have no fear, however, your minister knows me and he has assured me that I will be invited back for guest appearances!

Enjoy this glorious spring weekend that we are having at last! Be safe and I hope to see you in church on Sunday. That’s your news from the pews. Blessings, Judy
