Dear Friends,

We learned this morning that Edna Wood, mother of Bob Wood, died late Monday afternoon in the home of her son, Lew. She was 78 and had only recently been diagnosed with extensive cancer. Bob and Carla are in Jackson, Wyoming, spending spring break with some friends. At this time there is no need for them to rush back here or anywhere else. There will be a memorial service for Edna near her home in Cleveland, Ohio, the weekend after Easter. Please keep the Wood family in your prayers during their season of grief. Edna Wood is also grandmother to Carrie Rutledge, Kristin Mischell who are members of our church and great-grandmother to Alex Sinclair and Jake Rutledge who are the children of Carrie and Dwayne Rutledge.

I have already shared with you the news of Judy Richards’ death. Calling hours will be tomorrow (Wednesday, March 31) from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Ratterman’s on Bardstown Road in Buechel. The funeral will be on Thursday, April 1 at 1 p.m. also at Ratterman’s. Judy was only a member of our church for a few years and during that time she was sick quite a bit. However, she did sing with the choir for a while and found great joy in doing that. She was a delightful woman, with a great spirit and great sense of humor. She showed great courage as she battled her blood disease. Judy will be deeply missed by her family and friends. May we all find comfort in the fact that she is free from her struggle and whole again – at home with her Savior. Her husband did not join the church. However, we encourage you to send him and Lucille Harding, Judy’s mother and a church member, expressions of prayer support and sympathy. Tom’s address is 10806 Woodtwist Court 40291. You will find the address of Lucille Harding in your church directory.

Another individual recovering from gall bladder surgery is Susan Rock. Susan developed an acute case of gall bladder-itis

And went to the hospital on an emergency basis last Tuesday. On Wednesday morning they did surgery and by Wednesday afternoon she was at home again! Please keep Susan in your prayers as she continues to recover.

Lori Nicholson is also at home recovering this week.

Kathy Flowers is at home recovering from her surgery. There was a concern regarding cancer, but her pathology reports came back completely clear. This is a huge relief for Kathy and her family – and a great answer to all of our prayers. Please continue to pray for her full recovery.

We’re hearing great things from the youth in St. Louis – lots of hard work – yesterday they were tearing down walls and today they are sorting cans and dealing with rotten tomatoes in a food warehouse. Please continue to keep them in your prayers.

I think this will catch you up on the news in the pews. Blessings to all of you, Judy

Dear Friends,
I sent the news from the pews just before we received a phone call that Judy Richards died quietly this afternoon -- probably within the last half hour or so. Arrangements are pending. Please uphold her family in your prayers. Her mother, Lucille Harding, is a member of this church. Judy is also survived by a brother, a husband, Tom, 4 children, 3 grandchildren. Ratterman's on Bardstown Road will have the arrangements. We will keep you posted.
Blessings, Judy
