Dear Friends,

It seems that the pastoral needs here come all at once or don’t come at all. In other words, there isn’t that “happy medium” that we all search for!

Bob and Carla Wood learned today that Bob’s mother, Edna Wood, is quite sick with cancer. It is fully metastasized and she has chosen not to have any treatment. The doctor and her family support this choice. She is leaving Cleveland in the next day or two and flying to the Denver area to stay with her son, Lou, and his wife, Sharon. Bob and Carla and their entire family will be making a trip to Colorado in the near future. Please lift up this entire family in your prayers. Edna is Bob and Carla’s “last parent” and the “last grandparent” for their children.

Kathy Flowers has asked that the prayers of the congregation surround her as she faces some significant surgery in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Please lift up Kathy and Don and their sons, Brandon and Andrew, as they face this surgery. There is some concern that cancer may be present.

Deb Anderson, sister to Pam Scott, will be undergoing by-pass surgery tomorrow in Texas. Deb has been having significant heart problems over the last several months. It has only been recently that the doctors have diagnosed her with a rather rare disorder, so they are now seeking to make the corrections necessary for her to live a fuller and healthier life. Please keep Deb in your prayers as well as her entire family.

Ann Minch finds herself in the position of being the primary caregiver to a 77-year-old father who has Alzheimer’s. Ann has asked for our prayers. Ann also has two young sons at home and her family moved to a new neighborhood in the fall. That’s a lot of changes in a short period of time for any family! Please keep Ann and Mark and their boys, as well as her father, in your prayers.

Judy Richards is in the hospital at U of L. She has a severe case of shingles and has asked for no visitors – not even family. Last summer, Judy went through a bone marrow transplant to deal with a potentially fatal blood disease. Please keep Judy and her husband, Tom, in your prayers.

Renee and David Moffett will be moving sometime in the month of April. David got a wonderful promotion and new opportunity with his company – unfortunately it is in Texas! They have sold their home here and bought a new home in Texas. Please keep them in your prayers as they go through this major transition in their lives.

As many of you know, David and Renee provide regular transportation for Theresa Billingsly to get here to church. Theresa lives downtown at 4th and Ormsby. She is going to need regular transportation to church. Our faith community has come to mean a lot to Theresa. Kathy and Brad Learn have agreed to pick her up one Sunday a month. Are there others who may be willing to take a Sunday during the month – preferably something on a regular basis?? Theresa can transport herself from the wheelchair into the car. Renee says the wheelchair is easy to collapse and put in a trunk. Renee and David typically go together, but there have been times when Renee has done it by herself. Please let me know if there is anyone in our church that feels led to participate in this special ministry for Theresa as well as for our church.

Lorna Pierce lost her cousin last Thursday. He was only 37, but had suffered with MS for quite some time. Please keep Lorna and her extended family in your prayers.

Don’t forget that Saturday morning is the Presbyterian Men’s Breakfast (this is basically any man who is also Presbyterian!). So far there are 27 registered. Andrew Hartmans will be the guest speaker. He is the Director at Cedar Ridge Camp.

Jill McLaughlin, one of our preschool teachers, is having extensive bowel surgery on Monday, March 22. Please keep Jill in your prayers and her family.

There are so many needs that I urge each one of you to pray in a mighty way for those who need the healing touch of God in their lives for whatever reason!

That’s the news from the pews. Blessings, Judy
