Dear Friends,

We had a wonderful and busy Sunday here yesterday. It was our last Sunday for a 9 a.m. worship service. Don’t forget that this week, February 29th, we are going to “leap” into an 8:30 worship service, 9:30 Sunday school for all ages, and 10:40 traditional worship! Adjust your family time slots accordingly – we don’t want to leave anybody behind.

Jim Pierce remains at Baptist East hospital as he is treated for a blood infection. It appears that the most likely culprit is his gall bladder. As of today the plan is to clear up the blood infection, build up some of Jim’s strength, and then remove the gall bladder! Please keep Jim and JoAnn in your thoughts and prayers. It is unclear as to when he may get home from the hospital, so I encourage you to send cards to their home.

Ironically, Laura Mills had her gall bladder out quite suddenly about 10 days ago. Her only symptoms were itching and jaundice! She never had any pain or fever. Jim’s only symptoms were the fever and jaundice – never any pain. Laura is doing very well and hopefully Jim will soon be well, too. The moral of the story is that the gall bladder can apparently be very tricky!

Jim Rittenhouse was hospitalized on Saturday with chest pain. He remains at Baptist East in the special heart unit located just off the ER. They are adjusting some medications and putting him through some tests. He hopes to be home soon and says he already feels better on the new meds. Please keep Jim in your prayers and drop him a note to let him know you are thinking of him.

Joel Tackett had a visit with the oncologist and they are recommending 35 radiation treatments at the site of his sarcoma. The doctors believe they have removed all cancerous tissue. The radiation is a precautionary measure. He begins on March 4 and will have the treatment 5 days a week for 7 weeks! Joel lives with Bob and Jane if you want to send a card or note. Please keep him in your prayers.

Don’t forget that Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and we will have worship in our sanctuary beginning at 7:30 p.m. We will offer the imposition of ashes for those who wish to participate in this practice.

That’s your news from the pews. Blessings, Judy
