Dear Friends,

The congregation has been pretty healthy lately and for this we are very grateful. We do have a couple of special needs that I want to share with you.

Jim Pierce was hospitalized on Wednesday night after several days of abdominal pain and a fever. He is at Baptist East and respectfully requests NO VISITORS. They are not sure what is going on – some infection somewhere with his liver enzymes being out of whack. He’s pretty worn out. Please keep Jim and JoAnn in your prayers. If you want to send a card (which I encourage you to do), please send it to their home.

Ed Bohannon was released from the struggle of this earthly life early on Tuesday morning. Ed had been suffering and struggling since August 18th. He went through several surgeries and spent most of that time on a ventilator. He died peacefully on Tuesday morning. Ed’s calling hours and memorial service will be TODAY (Friday). Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the service will be at 7 p.m. Everything will be taking place at Fern Creek Funeral Home – Bill and Lucy Anderson and Gayle Anderson Yates. Ken will be leading the service.

Ed and his wife, Zelma were long time members of this congregation. There were many years when they did not attend church. However, about 2-3 years ago, after Zelma’s death, Ed began attending church again and attended faithfully for more than a year. Ed has four children – a daughter, Eva, and 3 sons. He also has six grandchildren – and a few great-grandchildren. Eva has assumed all the responsibility for Ed in these last years as well as much of the responsibility for 2 of the 6 grandchildren. Her two brothers live in the area, but her third brother is out in Washington state somewhere and they really don’t know how to get a hold of him. Although there is family, Eva does not receive much emotional, financial or physical support from any of them. Please surround Eva with your prayers, your cards, and your presence. If it is at all possible I encourage you to stop by the calling hours this evening or stay for the memorial service – it will be about 30 minutes. Eva needs her church family during this difficult time.

Please remember that next Wednesday, February 25th is Ash Wednesday and we will hold a special worship service here at church at 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, March 3 will begin study groups for adults and older youth on “The Purpose Driven Life”. I will have two groups. One will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – You are invited to bring a sack lunch – and the other will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings – an easy supper will be served at church prior to that group (5:30 to 6:30 p.m.). I hope to see many of you there!

That’s the news from the Pews. Blessings for your weekend. I hope to see you on Sunday. In Christ, Judy
