Dear Friends,

Thought you might enjoy an end of the week update on several of our folks.

I spoke with Iva Dillingham by phone. She is not feeling very well, although she is home. She’ll see her doctor again next Friday for a check on the pacemaker. I told her we would continue to hold her up in prayers.

Bill Slaughter is home again, also. He, too, sounds tired but is glad to be home. Please lift up Bill in your prayers, as well as Stacey who is his daughter and full-time caregiver.

Pam Scott has made the decision NOT to go forward with any surgery on her shoulder. It has been 10 weeks since the injury and she is improving slightly and doing a great job of compensating with her left arm. They are going to do therapy and begin weaning her off of her pain medicine. If she can handle the pain without prescription medication she will be able to continue to heal without surgery. Pam is optimistic and greatly relieved having made this decision. Let us unite our prayers to hers and pray for a full recovery and release from pain.

Joel Tackett anticipates surgery on February 3, although his prognosis is very, very good. They do not anticipate any further chemo or radiation needed at this time.

Jemma Miller-Breetz, 7 months old, did very well with her first open heart surgery earlier this week. The doctors are very encouraged and optimistic. By Wednesday her parents were able to hold her, although she remained in ICU. She will have to have at least one more surgery that will be even more invasive, but they hope to wait another several months. Please continue to pray for Jemma and for her family. She has two older brothers.

Theresa Billingsley is at home and slowly recovering from her compression fracture. The severe pain is gone but she continues to have a constant ache in the area. Theresa is in need of a recliner/lift chair – the kind that helps lift you to a standing position. Her existing recliner doesn’t have enough support and it is manually operated from her right side which is her injured side (and her only strong side). Her daughter, Letha, has found a chair but the cost is $600.00. So, the questions are two: does anyone know of a good quality, but less expensive chair? Is there an individual or several or perhaps even a Sunday school class or two that would like to make a contribution to help defray the cost of the chair? She may ultimately qualify for VA reimbursement, but that will take far longer than she would like to wait for a chair. Feel free to e-mail me or speak to me on Sunday if you have any suggestions or contributions! Theresa regularly attends worship when she is well. David and Renee Moffett bring her to worship. Regardless of what happens with her chair, please lift Theresa up in prayer that she may have the spiritual and emotional strength to endure this lengthy recovery. Her e-mail address is tab5024@aol.com if you would like to send a prayer or greeting her way.

Bob Metzger is asking for prayers for his father. Bob’s Dad is one courageous 94 year old who is currently battling pneumonia. Please lift him up in your prayers as well as Bob and Pat.

On Sunday we will ordain and install church officers at both services. I hope to see all of you there!

That’s the news from the pews. Blessings, Judy
